چکیده

Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) waves are analysed in the early Universe, in the inflationary era, assuming the Universe to be filled with a nonviscous fluid of the Zel’dovich type (p = ρ) in a metric of the de Sitter form. A spatially uniform, time dependent, magnetic field B0 is assumed to be present. The Einstein equations are first solved to give the time dependence of the scale factor, assuming that the matter density, but not the magnetic field, contribute as source terms. The various modes are thereafter analysed; they turn out to be essentially of the same kind as those encountered in conventional nongravitational MHD, although the longitudinal magnetosonic wave is not interpretable as a physical energy-transporting wave as the group velocity becomes superluminal. We determine the phase speed of the various modes; they turn out to be scale factor independent. The Alfvén velocity of the transverse magnetohydrodynamic wave becomes extremely small in the inflationary era, showing that the wave is in practice ’frozen in’. We suggest that the cosmological constant has been relaxed to its present, very small value during the inflationary stage of the evolution of the Universe. This requires relatively low scale, very long duration and unconven-tional source of inflation. We present a concrete mechanism of the cosmolog-ical constant relaxation at the inflationary epoch.

0 D ec 1 99 9 Bianchi V inflation in the Brans - Dicke theory ?

It is shown some exact solutions in the Brans-Dicke (BD) theory for a Bianchi V metric having the property of inflationary expansion, graceful exit, and asymptotic evolution to a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) open model. It is remarkable that an inflationary behaviour can occur, even without a cosmological potential or constant. However, the horizon and flatness problems cannot be solve with...

The shortcomings of the Standard Big Bang Cosmological Model as well as their resolution in the context of inflationary cosmology are discussed. The inflationary scenario and the subsequent oscillation and decay of the inflaton field are then studied in some detail. The density perturbations produced during inflation and their evolution during the matter dominated era are presented. The tempera...
